(I-SoftwareNews.Com, April 22, 2015 ) London, UK -- Apple has announced that it will be hosting its 26th annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2015 at San Francisco's Moscone West from June 8th to June 12th.
Attending the conference, which will host in excess of 100 technical sessions, will be over 1,000 Apple technical engineers.
One of the highlights of this year's WWDC will be its "Design Awards" when apps for the iPhone, iPad, Mac and the newly launched Apple Watch which, according to Apple, "demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding design" receive due recognition.
The conference is annually hailed as giving delegates the opportunity to connect with their fellow iOS and OS X developers from across the planet as well as being a regular slot for ostly software related announcements. On the practical front developers will be given what is being labelled as an insight into optimal development techniques and guidance on how they can make the most of iOS and OS X technologies in their apps as well as learning the best practice for enhancing app performance, functionality, design and quality.
Expected as standard at the Moscone West event are announcements on the future of iOS and OS X.
Developers have already been given the opportunity to apply for tickets, while sessions will also be streamed live worldwide.
As can be expected with an event of this magnitude it is already attracting more than its fair share of rumours as well as expectations.
The WWDC has a history of producing the unexpected. In 2012 the MacBook Pro with Retina Display took centre stage, an honour shared by the Mac Pro the following year.
Shock-2 Case (currently available for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus) predictions are already being made about what is likely to be the showpiece at this year's event with an appearance of the next generation of the Apple TV being rumoured. Talk once again also heavily surrounds an Apple music streaming service and less so but still in the picture is an Apple television service of some form.
The Apple Watch is also expected to be centre stage with huge promise of maturing software development by June and the huge opportunities this new market offers for app developers. Already numerous apps have been developed for the product and the race is already on to roll out more.
A bi-product of the Apple Launch is the likely boost it will give to iPhone sales, a benefit already being flagged and welcomed by the now over $10bn Apple accessory industry.
A spokesperson for active lifestyle brand Boom Products, which produces the best selling Shock-2 Case (currently available for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus), said: "The Apple Watch is an exciting and innovative product, but it must be used in conjunction with an iPhone. It is certainly a trump card for reasons for upgrading to an iPhone 6 or Plus or even moving from Android and I would expect some big software announcements to push sales forward. It is a win-win situation for Apple."
Selected WWDC sessions will be live streamed online and via the WWDC app with all session videos available online daily.
