A pioneer in keylogging applications, the developer has been developing parental monitoring applications since 2009 with a focus on Windows PC and the Mac OS.
With the recent huge shift to portable devices such as Android and iOS, the company has adapted by creating mobile solutions for these devices and operating systems.
According to company spokesman Eric Nelson "The Latino market has suffered a huge loss of representation, we've aimed to correct that with our latest releases of parental safety monitors specifically for the worldwide Spanish speaking population".
Suicide rates among Latin American teens are hard to quantify as there are no "hard" statistics, and some countries either don't track these deaths or choose not to make this data public. Nicaragua has nearly double the rate of teen suicides as its neighbors according to a recent Article from USA Today.
While most north american countries require a mandatory psychological evaluation in cases of attempted suicide, most of their central and southern american neighbors have no such requirement nor the resources to implement it.
Latinos in the U.S. have the highest suicide rate among young people aged 15-24 according to a 2010 study done by Dr. Luis H. Zayas at the University of Austin. These teen suicides are most often committed by U.S. born Latinos who are children of immigrant parents because they are attempting to perform the balancing act of fitting in with both cultures.
Today's teens face problems that yesterday's teens never had to deal with. While the bullying may start in the classroom, it inevitably and instantly takes to social media. There is no respite or protection from online bullying as today's youth live in their smartphones. And because it is public for all to see, there is no hope of privacy.
According to JAMA pediatrics some 23% of teens admit to being cyber bullied, while 15% admit to bullying others online. Approximately 5% of U.S. teens attempt to commit suicide yearly, while 15% have considered suicide at some time within the last 12 months.
Spanish speaking parents who take advantage of today's parental monitoring applications will finally have the opportunity to be aware of their child's internet behavior; as well as other social media users behavior toward them.
There are always "signs" of depression, conversations, and Google searches that can give a parent a good idea about their children's state of being. A1's new Espiar Celular will be launched under the Programas Espias label and aims to assist these non-English speaking parents in helping their teens to navigate through this new social landscape.
