(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 16, 2011 ) SAN DIEGO, CA, March 15, 2011 – The Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA), the leading association dedicated to advancing the business of technology services, has introduced its new Education Services Benchmark Survey—the most comprehensive source for education services managers seeking a comparative scorecard of their business performance. The survey, run continuously and open to member companies who have subscribed to TSIA’s Education Services discipline, sets a new standard in benchmarking for education services operations.
Unlike other benchmark surveys surveys in the industry, the TSIA Education Services Benchmark gives companies insight into how their education services practices stack up against both the industry and peer groups, as opposed to a simple comparison against arbitrary standards.
Upon completion of the initial wave of survey responses following its introduction in August of 2010, TSIA conducted a comprehensive analysis of the data. Twenty benchmark surveys have been completed, with full benchmark reviews delivered to all participants, including significant representation from small, medium, and large businesses across all major product sectors of the technology industry.
“As this type of information has been generally unavailable in the education services marketplace, the results of this survey have been greatly anticipated,” said Maria Manning Chapman, TSIA’s senior research director for education services. “Participants found the information covered during their individual benchmark review sessions to be invaluable.”
The survey findings include these highlights:
• The average annual revenue generation per FTE is $522,742.
• Average fill rates for classroom and virtual instructor-led training are 64 percent and 62 percent, respectively.
• On average, 33 percent of education services staff is dedicated to content development.
• Sixty-three percent of education services organizations provide “high stakes” certification programs.
• The percentage of certificates issued annually for customers, partners, and internals is 36 percent, 47 percent, and 17 percent, respectively.
Manning Chapman added: “The TSIA Education Services Benchmark provides data about common practices relative to the education services business model, operations, delivery, and many other facets of the education business that heretofore have largely been inaccessible. Many of the participants said that they will use the results to build a case with management for such initiatives as adding content development headcount, establishing an education services sales force, and committing resources to education services marketing.”
