  • Live Work Abroad Provides Ideas on Tools for Remote Working

(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 17, 2012 ) Maryport, United Kingdom -- For anyone deciding that remote working from abroad is a good option, they will almost certainly find themselves relying on a few very useful tools to help to minimise the distance between them and their clients. Here are three of the most useful.

    1. Email:

ItÂ’s hard to think what life was like before emails came along, or just how much they have changed the way we work.

Before emails everything was sent by fax or snail mail. Now in almost any job emails play a huge role, being the primary way that people communicate, and email is now one of the most important remote working solutions available.

Even though social media is growing and more people are communicating in this way, emails are here to stay, and when anyone works from abroad they will rely on them to a large extent.

    2. Skype:

Although video calling has not had the same huge effect on the workplace as emails, access to a Skype account (or any other VOIP service) is a massive bonus for anyone working from abroad.

For remote working software, it doesnÂ’t come much better than Skype. Cheap international calls are just one of the reasons to sign up to this, but it can also be used to hold video calls with clients, screen share and create a number which clients can call workers on for the price of a local call.

Being able to make and receive calls wherever internet access is available can really free up workers to take their work with them, so even if they head away for a few days on a mini adventure in their new country, they can still communicate with their clients as if from home.

    3. Dropbox:

Dropbox is a free service for backing up files and transferring large files across the internet and can be a very important tool for location independent working.

Backing up is hugely important wherever someone lives and works. But for people who are abroad and are relying on client work to pay the bills, it is even more important.

If a worker loses their computer and all of their files, then as long as they have the most important ones backed up in Dropbox they will be able to access them from anywhere. On a side note, they should also be backing up all their work onto an external device as well just to be on the safe side.

Dropbox is also very useful for sending large files to clients. Emails often have limits on the file sizes that they can send, so having a simple and quick way to transfer large files across the internet is very useful indeed.

    Make Use of These Tools:

Any location independent business can make use of these three tools. With these three alone workers may well be able to work from abroad a lot easier, but there are also others to look into such as VPNs. Anything that makes life easier for workers and their clients is a good thing, so they should try to take advantage of anything they can.
