(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 07, 2010 ) SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA), the technology services industry’s largest and most vibrant association, announced its keynote lineup for Technology Services Europe 2010 (TSE10), being held in Barcelona, Spain, February 3-5. The conference, themed “Services in the New Tech Landscape,” will feature keynote presentations from Capgemini, Dell Perot Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Technische Universitaet Muenchen Business School, Xerox, and TSIA thought leaders.
Technology companies are examining their portfolios for growth and profitability opportunities, reappraising the merits of a vastly larger move toward services. Recently even companies like HP, Dell, and Xerox—once thought of as product-centric companies—have placed significant bets on the role of technology services by acquiring independent service companies. This move is changing the go-to-market landscape for all technology product and service providers. In addition, customers everywhere are struggling to realize the full potential of their technology purchases. The avalanche of complexity in today’s highly advanced, highly integrated product world threatens to overwhelm customers and slow their adoption of future technology. These will be the major topics of keynote discussions at TSE10.
Following his opening welcome address and keynote, “Complexity Avalanche: Overcoming the Threat to Technology Adoption,” TSIA president and CEO J.B. Wood will host a discussion on the topic, based largely upon his newly published book titled "Complexity Avalanche," with a distinguished roster of industry executives including Johan Vanoverbeke, worldwide vice president, technology services sales, Hewlett-Packard; Ricardo Berrio, Europe customer services operations director, Xerox; and Daniel Smith, EMEA director of business development, Dell Perot Systems.
TSIA executive director Thomas Lah will further expand upon the concepts in “The Services Stress Test,” providing both data and frameworks that will articulate the significant impact that services revenue streams will have on the future economic success of both hardware and software companies. Lah will present the shifting margin map facing technology solution providers, discuss new classes of services that product companies will be called upon to deliver if they hope to survive the complexity avalanche, and identify initiatives that service organizations must consider in the near term to prepare themselves for the pending shift in the margin map.
In the closing luncheon keynote, “Are You Ready for the Services Upswing?”, Hans van Grieken, vice president of business innovation at Capgemini Nederland B.V., will expand upon the concepts presented throughout the event, answering questions about the rate of technology adoption and the “consumption gap”—the disparity between what technology can provide and how much of it is actually consumed or used. He also will discuss how new computing models such as cloud computing will impact heavily on the way companies consume technology and, specifically, technology services.
“The way we manage our people, processes, and technologies is about to change dramatically. Leading companies are integrating more proactive, value-added services into their current offerings and building new ones,” said TSIA president and CEO J.B. Wood. “TSE10 Barcelona attendees will discover how technology services are responding to the significant shifts in the market landscape, what the cross-currents mean for the delivery of technology services in Europe within the next five years, how to optimize current service revenues, and how to prepare for the value-added services world that is coming.”
