(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 25, 2011 ) LAS VEGAS, NV, AND SAN DIEGO, CA – A new age of tech is coming and Consumption Economics: The New Rules of Tech is the guidebook that will enable services organizations to navigate the significant shift in the technology industry caused by cloud and managed services. Released yesterday at Technology Services World (TSW) 2011 Las Vegas, the much-anticipated, groundbreaking book made its exclusive debut to a record-breaking gathering of top-level industry professionals.
The bookÂ’s authors, J.B. Wood, Todd Hewlin, and Thomas Lah, were on hand to further illustrate the concepts of Consumption Economics and talk with attendees regarding the implications of this new age of tech.
In their opening keynote, TSIA CEO J. B. Wood and Todd Hewlin of TCG Advisors explained how the rise of the cloud and managed services business models will change technology purchasing power forever—shifting the risk from the customer to the supplier—and what companies can do to navigate this sizeable shift.
“How we build products, how we drive revenue, what services we offer, and what we must do to succeed are all on the table. It is the rise of the service business model, and it has new rules,” states Wood. “How tech companies react to this shift could either accelerate the commoditization of their products or lead to a new stage of competitive differentiation and profitable growth.”
Following Wood and HewlinÂ’s presentation, TSIA executive director Thomas Lah presented a more tactical journey, discussing how organizations can successfully navigate this change in the near term. Leveraging a combination of public data and benchmark data TSIA has been trending for over five years, Lah mapped the current state and projected future state of technology company business models.
